    Ah! One of the many Montréal streetcars innovations.

    The Pay As You Enter (PAYE) system was first implemented in Montréal.

    The only inaccuracy is that the “teapot” farebox pictured was used when the conductor used to make rounds though the car to collect nickels (the fare then was 5¢).

    When the MTC switched to PAYE, they installed the famous fareboxes we still see in the Métro stations (until the new fare system goes 100% operational).
