Stephen Lack's candid snap of a Main St. arcade

This photo caught my eye as an amazing artifact of early-to-mid 70s somewhere on St. Lawrence Blvd.
It was taken by artist Stephen Lack who reports that he later asked around about the people and learned that the woman playing pool and two others in the photo (not sure which ones) have since died.
The arcade games are not immediately google-able by name but seem to suggest that the equipment was made to be elaborate to compensate for the primitive nature of the game. U-Boat, if I'm guessing right, was probably just green lines on a black background, moving around really slowly. Hill Climb was a mechanical motorcycle ride, as you can see here.

The Mtl police have been 100% corrupt for 160+ years.

  2. If I remember correctly, in U-Boat you looked through a periscope and shot torpedoes at boats. Sort of like duck hunt.
In all things, I could be wrong.

  3. Que de bon souvenir! Bon sang que j'ai gaspillé de l'argent dans ce genre d'endroit, surtout au Cristal Palace 1196 Ste-Catherine O.
