Parricide in Quebec : some horrifying cases

Jeez, nobody is scared of getting murdered now that Luka Magnotta was caught in Berlin.
But we can't be having that, can we? So let's discuss murder most foul here in Montreal, that of the most unexpected kind. One of every 50 murders is a parricide according to a US study, usually a son killing his mother, pops sometimes gets it at the same time too. Daughters never kill their parents.
Matricide has been used for chuckles in the giggleworthy J'ai tue ma mere (I Killed my Mother, by Xavier Dolan) he writes that in an essay at his new school in an effort to sabotage his stay there.)
And the imaginary concept also popped up in the MKULTRA affair in which Alan Memorial Hospital staffer Ewan Cameron nabbed a CIA contract and gave LSD brainwashing experiments to unwilling participants, including one who reported that the most disturbing part was being told repeatedly that he had killed his mother, which, of course, he had not.
But ladies and gentlemen, it does happen here as I will soon display.
Reasons cited often include drugs and violence in the home according to one American study, which noted that parricides are committed five times a week in the States.
Here are some of the most awful matricides ever in Montreal.

1-18 Nov. 1985 John Curphey, 24, attempted to kill himself by slicing his wrists but changed his plan and instead stabbed his 56-year old mother Patricia Goyette Curphey seven times, to her death with a pair of lengthy
Curphey
industrial scissors as she lay in her bed at their home on Chartier Street in Sherbrooke. He then beat his father savagely. He then leaped into a nearby river, thinking it as a purification ritual that would erase what had occurred. He was placed in an insane asylum.

2-    On Jan 29, 1989, adopted son Michel de la Boissiere, 20, who was studying management at UQAM, killed his parents, starting off by hitting them with a frying pan. The parents, Dr. Gaston de la Boissiere, 59, and his wife, Alberte, 56, had spoiled the boy, buying him a car when he turned 16. Michel left two knives in his mother's eyes at their Boucherville home. He had been bullying her for money, including cash for a $100,000 condo he had bought with his co-accused (who was given little or not jail time) but he wanted more. Eventually he was nailed and sentenced to 15 years without parole. So yeah, he is among us again. (Someone by that name was kicked out of an apartment for non payment recently, possibly same guy).

3-  Steven Clarke, 31, beat and murdered his mom Joan Williams, 55, on Sept. 11, 1991. Like de la Boissiere, he pretended to find his mom's body the next day. He had brought it to the garage of their apartment on Grand near Upper Lachine in NDG. Clark was charged with second-degree murder pending psychiatric evaluation. No idea where he is now.

4   Sebastien Brosseau, 21, was living with his East End school-teacher mom in Repentigny when he killed her in November 1990 after she harangued him for watching too much TV. He said that she held a baseball bat on her and he got a knife and stabbed her 40 times and slit her throat, tried to make it look like a robbery. Brosseau was convicted of manslaughter and was out of prison by 1992 but still helped other inmates as an advocate for prisoners' rights. He attempted to become a lawyer with the help of Julius Grey but that effort was shot down by the Supreme Court in 2001.

5-  Claude Lecours, 42, was shot and killed on May 10, 1992 in Longueuil by her 14 year old son. It was Mother's Day. He son was a drug dealer and dabbled into the occult. He also killed his father and brother with a rifle that he had borrowed from a buddy. His 10 year sentence was reduced to six years.
6-   On Jan. 12, 1994 John Vournos, 15, beat his mother Calliope Vournos, 43, to death. He stabbed her twice and smashed her head on the flood of their DDO home. He was upset because he felt his mother didn't love his father, a cook in Chateauguay, sufficiently. The Greek family had been considered a model clan, and John was an altar boy at the local church. The killer wrote a note and killed himself with his father's gun.

7-   On Oct 7, 1995 Serge Charron, 33, killed his mom Denise Charron, 63, with a knife and hammer. Charron had been released from prison in Drummondville and wanted money for cocaine. His mom had cancer and he had recently come to live with her at her seventh flood apartment on St. Andre after his release. He was sentenced to life for manslaughter but escaped and robbed three banks while on the lam in 2005 but was caught again soon after.

8 -  Geoffrey Fertuck, 34, axed his mother Margaret Anglin Fertuck, 65 and father at their Beaconsfield home on May 15, 2001. He had been a promising athlete but was stricken with schizophrenia and returned to live with his parents but wasn't taking his medication. His father Edward Fertuck was apparently a pretty funny guy, ask him what he wanted for dinner and he'd say, "nothing fancy, just pheasant under glass and baked Alaska." After killing his mom and dad, he tossed himself under a freight train. Vanier CEGEP awards an annual price named after Margaret Fertuck, who was an early childhood educator.
Letellier murder scene
9-Oct. 2002, Andrew Letellier, 30, killed father Robert Letellier, 66 and mother Celine Letellier, 66, with a baseball bat, knife and an arrow. He then hanged himself at the home they all shared at 25 Marsal in Lorraine, Quebec. Another son, Denis Letellier made the gruesome discovery.

Pascal Monnier after killing parents
8-  Pascal Monnier, 46, beat his parents to death in Laval-des-Rapides on January 19, 2005. His mother was Liliane Thelene, 71. He had no psychiatric issues prior but looked pretty crazy as he was put into the Pinel Institute for the Criminally Insane, which has wings full of people which hardly anybody ever gets to see.

Qavavauq Leah
10-   Gregory Qavavauq, 18, beat his adoptive mom Qavavauq Leah, 57, to death on April 26, 2005? in Côte-Saint-Paul. He had been violent towards his mom, who had a tough life, losing her children and husband before adopting unwanted babies from up north.

11 - Nicolas van Chetstein, 32, killed his mom Gabrielle St. Laurent, 70, and his father Ivan van Cheststein on Bretonvilliers St. in Ahuntsic on October 21, 2005. The perpetrator was a schizophrenic who had not seen his parents for quite some time.

12 -   Donald Couture, 61, shot his mom Colette Couture, 87 on  June 29, 2006. He had been living with his mom who had been paralyzed with a stroke. He then killed himself.

13-  Pascal Proteau, 30, allegedly stabbed and killed his mother Celine Tardif, 55, Feb. 24, 2006 on Nantel St. in Longueuil, in the borough of Brossard. (No further details).

14-  Raymond Desilets killed his mother in 1981 because he was delusional and thought she was Queen Elizabeth and he dislikes the monarchy.

15-   Raymond Wong, 24, killed his mother Chien Chin Wong, 49, a nurse's aide on October 7, 1991 on Franklin in TMR. He was a McGill grad student. He pleaded not guilty. Believed he had schizophrenia.

  7. Everything is wrong about 4. There is no east side in Repentigny. He became a lawyer. Do not trust the facts, there was no trial. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/quebec-killer-wins-right-to-become-lawyer/article712212/#:~:text=He%20left%20the%20country%20after,right%20to%20become%20a%20lawyer.
