Mtl buiding shots from 50 years ago




The top photos were from an article about illicit gambling halls in Montreal. The last two from an article about an infamous gangs that battled around Ontario and St. Andre.

  1. Love old pics like that, even when it's of seedy places. I walked in front of that spot on Metcalfe this morning (it's Cours Mont-Royal there now). :P

  2. Cours Mont-Royal, the former Cardy-owned Mount Royal Hotel that became a Sheraton in the 50s...is at 1455 Peel. This picture is of 1451 Metcalfe, 1 block east...you are confusing the Cours with the CENTRE Mont-Royal, the locale where Montreal mega-lawyer Arthur Garvis held the Montreal version of the wedding reception of his son, one-time noted CIQC radio host and local comic legend, Mitch Michaels.
