The curse of the NDG Conservatives: how a violent 1963 campaign episode damaged a brand

   Much has been made lately about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau having a physical exchange with another MP.
  But that is nothing to the epic episode which saw a politician slug a woman so hard in the face that it cost her two two teeth.
  Irishman Paschal Hayes was determined to win the NDG seat back for the Conservatives in 1963 but fate would not be kind.
    A crazy incident occurred while campaigning at a restaurant at Girouard and Upper Lachine.  
    The Conservatives lost big and never came close to winning the seat back.
