Montrealers finally permitted to step aboard Draken Viking ship

  The Draken has landed!
The Draken Harald Hårfagre, the worlds largest recently-created Viking ship, has sailed across the North Atlantic and docked at the Quay Jacques Cartier in the Old Port.
The ship has stopped in Montreal on the way to the Great Lakes on a mission that aims to recreated Leif Erikson's aquatic voyage.
Montrealers were to be welcomed onto the ship for free Monday, but Old Port officials said that it was not their job to organize security and line-ups, so they refused to let anybody aboard.
Finally, however, volunteers stepped up and people can now go down and see it until tomorrow.
"The first thing to notice when entering the boat was the smell of smoked fish, and a camping atmosphere," said one visitor.
