Sex scandal in Mascouche - strip club orgy lands police and firefighters in hot water 1981

   Lizette Rivard, 24, became the center of attention following a police scandal in 1981 that saw dozens of cops and firefighters allegedly take part in what was described as a public orgy.
   The building that housed the Maxi-Sexe Bar is now on sale for $450,000.

 Mascouche Mayor Gilles Forest ordered an inquiry 10 days after receiving complaints that 30 Mascouche cops and firefighters attended a public orgy at the Maxi Sexe strip club at 1079 st Henri on August 28 1981
   Officer Patrice Landry was covered in molasses and  offered oral pleasure - unsuccessfully - as a stag party stunt.
   Lengthy interviews ensued and police chief William Patterson announced that five men were to be charged while another 20 would be suspended.
   Several cops were suspended for a week but only dancer Lizette Rivard was charged and she pleaded not guilty.
  The bar's manager insisted that Rivard, 24, was a solid citizen, a married mother, and was not guilty of impropriety. and police claimed the story was designed to discredit their 15-member union.
  Dancer Syvie Briard said Rivard had done a lesbian show and then offered oral pleasure to the young cop but once the trial started in April 1982, she said nothing happened.
   Fellow Dancers Johanne Courtois as well as officers Jacques Nadeau and SGT Denis Monette - the top ranking officer present - also now insisted nothing happened
   Monette told the court "they were all drunk, you know what that can do - after all they're men!"  - Rivrad, who sat with her husband, joined the loud laughter.
   About 20 women, including feminist media types, attended the trial to support Rivard, who was acquitted.
  Two  years later, on 8 july 1983, 26 were arrested for indecent behavior in a separate raid at the club which later closed down.
