Packard was an upscale automobile company out of Ohio. They sold cars out of an impressive building on a main local strip. The company's long gone, but this architecural detail remains for all to see. Can you pinpoint the location?Four hours later and we have a winner: Anonymous got it. It's in Westmount, on St. Catherine, opposite Alexis Nihon Plaza. The building's worth a closer look next time you pass by. There are more details to be seen in the facade. By the way, you may recall that Subaru used to be in there for a while.
I'd go with that former garage on St. Catherine across from Alexis Nihon Plaza...or maybe on Vic Ave. in Westmount, as a second choice.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, if I were a betting man, I'd say the recent Wolfe-Montcalm exchanges in a certain online memorial section might be your work?

Is it at the old Bovril building at the corner of Park and Van Horne?

I share the sentiments exactly. Wish I had placed it. Wolf and Montcalm were both wonderful guys.
ReplyDeleteWolfe, I mean.
ReplyDeleteSubaru is still there. As well as "Hello Kitty" fetish store called "Morning Glory". Looks like they'd been there much longer than the Packard itself.
