The summer of 2003 was a hardworking season for the sidewalk sex trade workers of Shawinigan. Cops and neighbours were dumbfounded at the sight of the same five women on Champlain Street day after day from 7 am to 3 am. The women were charged and apprehended with prostitution-related charges but all smiled merrily for the cameras even as they were booked. Our Labour Day salute goes out to the hardworking women of Shawinigan.
