This is one of the two men gunned down yesterday, Augostino Cuntrera.
He was a cousin of the leaders of the powerful Rizzuto-aligned Cuntrera-Caruana leaders.
He was said to be a reluctant acting chief of the local Montreal Mafia, which has suffered a big void at the top ever since they've been under siege by local street gangs who, the story goes, want a bigger slice of the tasty local crime pie.
The photo is from the February 1, 1978 Montreal Gazette in which Cuntrera was facing charges of murdering Rizzuto-rival Paolo Violi. Cuntrera was sentenced to five years for his involvement. The other person shot dead yesterday was said to be Cuntrera's bodyguard.
Cuntera? Rizzuto's #2?
