Apparently this is Jean Talon and Park in 1970 and today. I'm not really seeing it so somebody tell me what's up with that. - Amended. You can't do much of before and after cuz that building on Ogilvy is obstructing the view. But the Bing Birds eye gives an idea.
The image on top is actually facing south towards the rear of the old train station. It looks like it was taken somewhere between Ogilvy Ave and Saint Roch, or possibly from the now abandoned pedestrian bridge at Saint Roch based on the vantage point.
ReplyDeleteThat's odd. You'd think you'd see the old CFCF building in the top photo. But I do see the tips of what looks like some clotheslines.
ReplyDeleteThe CP train at the station, seeing as it's being hauled by an old Alco and with a consist of tuscan red heavyweights, would have been a Ste-Therese commuter...Quebec City and Ottawa North Shore would have been Budd RDCs.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Molybdenum. These photos do line up, but they aren't at Jean-Talon and Parc. They are looking down the CP tracks to Ogilvy, the first probably taken from the old pedestrian bridge (as noted above) or from a high balcony.
ReplyDeleteThe building in front of the old train station houses the borough office and several leading software companies. Their gigantic parking lot is barely 10% full on weekdays. It could make an interesting transit station to connect the AMT train, the 535 bus and the (insh'allah) tramway.
