Eva Tanguay was born in the Eastern Townships in 1878 but moved to New England with her family before the age of six.
By 1910 she was a star in the Ziegfeld Follies and went on to earn about $2 million in her 68 years before dying in Los Angeles.
Here's an amazing description of her show at Bennett's Theatre.
Well that's Eva Tanguay of course. Her name is right there in the picture title:P Not the first time Kris. She should be played by Mitsou!
ReplyDeleteOya, that's true, I forgot to check the photo name. I wasn't going to make this a quiz. But oya! Don't you just see her on Boardwalk Empire sticking James Darmody with a hat pin?
ReplyDeleteMy guess was right. Eva Tanguay was a huge vaudeville star way back when. It's very sad, really, that such women as she, Pauline Donalda and Pauline Garon are not better remembered today. Even Norma Shearer is nearly forgotten in Quebec.
