1970 was quite a year in Quebec.
Right away people associate that year with the October Crisis and the bizarre spectacle of politicians getting kidnapped and troops in the streets.
But it was also the year for two other entirely unrelated major historical events that have left an imprint on the province to this day.
Can you name 'em ?
Answer time: 1-In 1970 the Kweeb got Medicare! It started November 1, 1970.
I was going to say that we also signed the famous 65-year Hydro deal with Newfoundland. That turned out to be a godsend to the province, but saw that this took place in fact in 1969. In July 1970 Premier Bourassa passed 36 major laws in 18 days which was a record.
