Andre the Giant in Montreal

Giant Jean Ferre, who took that name after arriving here from France in 1971. He was, of course, very large: around 7 foot 4. According to legend he was so tall that he took the front seat out of his car and drove from the back.
I remember hearing that as a kid, although subsequent searches for bio info suggest that he actually motored a white Cadillac.
He owned part of the wrestling management team that profited off him and apparently was part owner of Le Pichet restaurant which was on Mackay, east side just a few doors up from the Hall building.
Andre became the second most recognizable figure in the world after he moved out of town around 1973 in a successful search for expanded fortunes and glory.
I wonder where he lived in Montreal and what he did, other than consume copious amounts of booze and food. It would have been pretty amazing to see him go up against the Great Antonio in those early years, dontcha think?
