Living in a shed 1945

Housing was so difficult in Montreal in 1945 that Edward McKenna, a low-earning father of five, could not find a place to live with his wife and five children.
The owner of the R.R. Repair shop at 4227 St. James W. allowed them to stay in the small shed behind his shop.
His wife had a lung ailment and the kids weren't in great shape either living in those dangerous conditions. Don't know what became of them or whether some are still kicking.
That's them superimposed in an old-and-new collage at the corresponding address.

  1. Yes, indeed, I meant the bridge between N.S.(not N.B.) to P.E.I.

Looking at the map, however, one wonders if there was ever any serious consideration to building a bridge from N.B. since the distance is similar, but I imagine the proximity of population centres with their resulting traffic volume determined the final choice.

Hmmm...perhaps in 100 years we'll have a bridge or tunnel linking Saint John across the Bay of Fundy?

Correction, to my dyslexic post above:

I refer to the bridge between N.B. and P.E.I.
