The key to the Plateau is for sale. This recently-detached sign has been purchased by a guy who wants to resell it for $800. It's from the locksmith on Mount Royal east of Papineau. Some of the neon doesn't work. The vendor claims it's a Plateau icon. Not so sure myself.

The best reason to go back in time is for the parking, which was ample and unlimited. In 1947 when Montreal's city hall had 500 parking spots on the history-laden lawn known as the Champs de Mars. Alas the famously historic Drill Hall was later demolished just to the north and that's around where many cars park now.
Ah ...the magic wall of Oxford Park brings lovers to full states of turgid passion. These young and foolish lovers (Young? the guy's about 50 - Chimples) were interrupted by a some killjoy hollering at 'em to cut it out. They walked away sheepishly. Note that her right hand is nowhere to be seen. You can imagine where it is.

I prefer the industrial gray paint over the ugly "mural". Hopefully, this is a work in progress and the painter has gone out to rent some scaffolding to finish the job.
