Montreal and the sou-sou

Gilma Moore of Montreal has been accused of defrauding people out of sou-sou money totalling $60,000 according to Egbert Gaye's Community Contact.
So what's a sou sou? A sou sou is a simple savings plan popular in the Caribbean and to some immigrants here in which people give an equal amount of money to a designated person. The entirety of that money is given to a different person every week, so everybody gets their turn. Nobody makes any more money than they otherwise would have through savings but it is thought of as a good way of making a forced saving.
Several of her alleged victims have been camping out on her doorstep waiting for her to return, so far without success. Moore's most recent job is working as a monitor at the Royal Vale School.
Moore also does the taxes for many of the alleged victims but cannot be found, so they might incur further problems if they don't get their taxes done in time and Moore has their papers.
Some have suggested Moore has a gambling problem, others that she has mental health issues.
According to a court document Moore, a 61 year old diabetic, underwent a couple of operations for carpal tunnel syndrome and tried to extend her workers compensation but was refused, in an long case from 2001-2006.
