It's Monique Proulx and her son Stephane Proulx.
Monique Proulx was a model earning $35 an hour in the early 70s. She couldn't even drive until age 22 but by 1971 she had a license to become a race car driver.
She had some success around 1974. When pregnant in the mid 60s her parents urged her to give her out-of-wedlock child up for adoption but she refused.
They didn't talk for two years. Her son Stephane Proulx (in the photo) became her pride and joy, eventually taking up racing himself at the tender age of 15 and having some success in Formula Ford Atlantic. Some thought he had the talent to race Formula 1. Alas in 1992 Stephane died of HIV-AIDS.

The guy kinda looks like a young Jean Alesi
ReplyDeleteWho knew that racecar drivers took it in the back???
ReplyDeleteJudging by their hair, they look insufferable.
ReplyDeleteStéphane Proulx contracted AIDS after a blood transfusion following a racing accident in Phoenix, Arizona. Has nothing to do with what you're suggesting, Jean Naimard. Thanks
