It is Rick Rojatt, at least that's the name this hooded man went by while performing some pretty wild stunts in the 70s. I'm not entirely convinced that the same actor did all the stunts, but he got some pretty significant media coverage in the States and his wing-walking stunt is said to still be the world-record.
He did a few motorcycle leaps as well and claimed that he was going to become a rock singer but then nobody ever heard of him again.

Sir Richard Branson wings into Montreal's PET International, piggybacking yet another publicity stunt.

I don't know what the place has to do with it, but the Human Fly guy broke Evil Kneivel's bus jumping record in Montreal by jumping over 25 buses on a bike
ReplyDeleteI won't give away the answer to this one, but there was another Montreal-born nutbar hell bent on breaking every last bone in his body in his lust for fame, money and babes back in the 70s. The NFB even made a documentary about him.
ReplyDeleteYou can read about it here and even watch it on YouTube (albeit in 19 pieces). Well worth your time.
This is easy.. Rick Rojatt failed to jump 27 or 28 buses at the Olympic staduim.
ReplyDeleteIn that picture posted he is on a DC-8-30 performing his "human" fly stunt.

ReplyDeleteIn the posted picture he is on a DC-8-30 performing his human wing routine. I think he actually wing walked.
When he started to put on weight, they called him the Hunan Dumpling.

He should have used a DC-8 “stretch”.
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, "Human Fly" looks like one of those bad translations you'd see on shoddy imported merchandise. I guess Human Fly means, loosely, People's Airline.

Since the plane isn't in French, too, it must be Westmount Air.
