Stanislas Pruszynski was founder of Stash's Flea Market at 338 Notre Dame E. in 1969 which was prominently mentioned in Don Bell's work of wacky Montreal in the early 70s. He closed it down after a new landlord doubled his rent in 1973.
Well Stash was a Polish Montreal who wrote for the Montreal Gazette and eventually opened Stash's Cafe and later moved back to Poland.
He would be about 80 now.
It was taken over by head waitress Ewa Bujnicka in 1978 and is still going strong.
Pruszynski was on hand for the Kennedy assassination and his audio tape has fueled speculation about what really happened.
Royal Orr...one of the founding members of the Equality Party....
ReplyDeleteRoyal Orr was NOT a founding member of the Equality Party and almost certainly didn't support them as he was a well-known Liberal Party of Quebec ass-licker and appeaser.
ReplyDeletewas the volunteer president of Alliance Quebec in 1988 and 1989.
ReplyDeleteHis legacy is looking like Khrushchev in the second picture.

ReplyDeleteIf I remember properly, Don Bell, Montreal journalist who authored "Saturday Night at the Bagel Factory" (see: http://coolopolis.blogspot.com/2007/08/sunday-sice-of-saturday-night-at-bagel.html ) wrote a story in which his drinking-buddy Stash won some money with which he decided to open the restaurant.
ReplyDeletePruszynski
ReplyDeleteActually quite a bit before Stash openned the restaurant he started Stash's Flea Market in old Montreal.
