Taxi drivers killed in Montreal

Mohamed Beyh 36, 2003-06-08 Disappeared. June 8, body found July 14 in a parking lot in Pointe Claire. Unsolved.* He had been driving a taxi for four months.
Mohamed Sadry, 36, 2001-11-04 Jason Andrew Kooger killed the driver and then doused the car with gas and set it alight in an attempt to ruin the evidence but his fingerprints still did him in. He was found guilty four years later. Sadry was the father of a two-year-old girl. Kooger stabbed him 20 times in the throat near
5005 MacDonald in NDG. Sadry did not wish to give his money to the thief. Kooger took tdrove the carto Hope Street before torching it. His fingerprints were on three of the containers after new technology was employed to lift them.
Nizfet Deljanin, 33,1995-12-02 He was a father of two who recently arrived as a refugee from Bosnia and had just started driving a taxi one week earlier. Barry Bishop, 19, fled to Hamilton where he was arrested a in a bar month later. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison without parole. Bishop shot Deljanin in Pierrefonds four times to rob $50.
Jean-Claude Audette, 57, 1994-03-12 A father of six was shot in the head by Leroy Sampson, 24, who was arrested and sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole for 10 years. Samspson allegedly made a black-power gesture while entering the prison.

Fernand Talbot, 58, 1993-08-01 Two gay skinheads from Toronto killed their elderly roommate and fled to Montreal where they robbed and stabbed Talbot to death in a robbery, dumping his body in an industrial park near 6395
Cote de Liesse in St. Laurent. Talbot was a bachelor. Terrence Allan Fitzsimmons and Donald Dara Hebert, a gay couple, were arrested. Talbot was an independent working for the A-11 company and was not equipped with a radio, instead he picked up travelers he saw on the street.

Michael Christopoulos, 67, 1993-06-03 was shot twice outside of
7745 Champagneur near St. Rock in Park Extension at the end of his shift at 12:40 a.m. There were no witnesses. Like Talbot, his cab was an independent A-11.
Roland Goyer, 55,1992-08-14. Brigitte Boudreau, 28, was sentenced to 44 months in prison. She was a drug addict who refused to pay She told him she had no money. He asked for ID. She opened her purse and there was a knife inside. The two fought and he died.
Octavio Velasquez, 54, 1991-04-12 Velasquez, who had moved to Laval from Colombia in 1973 was stabbed to death and his car was found in Arnprior Ontario. His body was found in the river three months later. His passenger, former soldier Stephane Menard, 23, of Montreal was found with the victim's blood on his clothing. He was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. His attempts to get a retrial were shot down at the Supreme Court.
Jean-Marie Tremblay, 64, 1989-05-14 Was killed outside of
55 Beaubien E. as he was killed for $50. He was a father of nine. He was a single father who had two jobs while raising his kids. He had been planning to retire within four months. He had been stabbed six times at 12:30 a.m. These totals do not take into account of the many who were attacked but survived.**
Alexandre Drolet, 63, 1986-02-28 Stabbed to death on Diab St. in St. Laurent. He was killed by Balbir Grewal, 25, who cut him in the face and neck and was sentenced to 15 years. He came to the police station a few hours later with Drolet's wallet.

was killed near
2246 Wilson. He had been driving a taxi here for 29 years before being shot in the head.

Fernand Giroux, 1979-10-23. Barbara Norton Hammer, 28, Katy McComber, 20, and Sherry Delisle, 18, were charged. They killed him in LaSalle, beating him to death. The trio of women were irate about another incident involving natives at Kahnawake.
Jean Desrape 1979-10-16 Yves Saint-Louis, 20, robbed Desrape of $30 at
100th and Notre Dame in Pointe aux Trembles and cut his throat.

Berilla fled while the brothers forced Lambert to drive them to near their home on Cartier Street in Point Claire. They claimed in court that the cabbie jumped on them, requiring them to stab him to death after they arrived. The brothers turned themselves into police five days after the event but refused to testify at their trial. They were eventually convicted. Carmen Berilla, 37, was the sole survivor and testified at the trial. She
died in 2005.
Roland Bergeron, 62, 1977-04-14 Was killed by a man aged about 19 in St. Bruno on the South Shore. Police launched a manhunt. He died in hospital.
Yves Pigeon, 43, 1975-01-21 Passenger Michel Blass and friends forced Pigeon to come inside the Gargantua Bar where he was killed along with a dozen others, 11 by fire, while two others were shot dead.

Arthur Desjardins, 48. 1966-12-11 lived at 1841 St. Andre. He was shot in the head while at the wheel of his 65 Pontiac at the corner of Clark and Vitre (Viger) Police were nearby and discovered the body soon after but had no leads. They could not locate his wallet.
Arthur Gagnier, 17, and Andre Gratton, 18, were arrested and charged with killing Arthur Desjardins
Rene Lapointe, 51 M Montreal 1965-05-19 A 17-year-old Jean-Pierre Leroux was charged with murder. Lapointe, from St. Leonard was stabbed 17 times with a knife in a robbery of $21 near
8195 Pascal Gagnon in St. Leonard. A fleet footed police officer Pierre Leclerc, 28, was able to catch him on foot. He was sentenced to life in prison and authorities promised to keep him in an institution that kept a special regard for his psychological state.

Robert Taylor, 30 M Montreal 1953-10-19 - Taylor a 54-year-old father of 10, living at 3340 Rosemont was killed by three young men who beat him on the head with a lead pipe. They escaped with $2.50 but were caught after a 14-year-old followed on his bicycle and reported what he saw to cops. Police eventually arrested Jean Beaulieu, 20, Andre Trudel, 18 Taylor and killer. Beaulieu was a 6'0" 200 lb deserter from the 22nd Regiment in Quebec City. Another suspect, 16, was also arrested but his name not made public. The boys had hailed the cab at Peel and St. Catherine at 1:30 p.m. and taken a ride to Paul Paul St. in the east end. They got Taylor to pull over on a deserted part of the strip and then hit him until he died.
Andre Leon Lorge, 47, 1953-04-28 Lorge, 44, was shot dead after being robbed near McGill and Wellington. Someone drove the taxi to Tupper and abandoned it there. It was a slow night and Lorge would not have had more than $15. He had no radio in his car and usually operated from Chomedey and St. Catherine.
Ovila Legault, 47,1949-09-23. Legault, 46, was killed on Fullum. A witness heard the cabbie say, "Go on and shoot, what's the matter?" He then drove about 100 yards into a tree after being shot.

was found in a ditch in Huntingdon and three suspects fled over the border. George McDonald was captured and executed for
the murder but his wife Doris
escaped the noose.

(Michel Gontran Damus, 61, 2003 Nov 30 around disappeared from around Lacordaire and Henri Bourassa. His car was found the next day in Mont Laurier. He was a Haitian-Montrealer married to Michaelle with a daughter Lysbeth. It turned out he died a natural death)
**A 16-year-old stabbed a driver four times at Viau and Hochelaga on April 22 1989. Dominic Fransca, 39, was stabbed three times after refusing a passenger, as he had just taken off his dome light to finish his shift. Police followed a trail of blood to catch the attacker. Feb 16 1989 Antoine Durant, 36, was beaten in an attempted theft and he drove two kilometers with a bullet i his head to get medical assistance and was in critical condition for many weeks. On Jan 29 1989, a driver was shot with a 22 calibre near the Jarry metro. He was in critical condition but survived. The taxi league said that there were 117 attacks on drivers in 1986 and 181 in 1988, a hike of 55 percent. There were 4,0000 taxis in Montreal at the time.
