There was some talk here that there's an old prison beneath city hall in Montreal. I looked into it and yep, yes indeed there is one down there to be sure. I wrote a thing which I think is going to be published in tomorrow Gazette on the subject.
Your Victorian/Edwardian(?) ghost is carrying a very modern red umbrella... Diablo in that detail...
The Metro Guy->Hall Building tunnel has been open for quite a while now, and as an alumnus whose school put a substantial sum towards it, I'd rather have seen my fellow students continue to walk the block or so in the elements ('twas good enough fer me, get offa my lawn you kidz, etc.) and the money go to other more purely academic needs.
The article in the Gazette about Montreal's old jail isn't available anymore! Can I still read it somewhere? And may I also ask for the source of the nice engraving of the old prison? Someone related to my family spent some time there during 1837-1838... many thanks!
