The people at the top all have parks named after themselves. They are city councillors for Cote St. Luc. They named all the parks in the area after themselves. I don't know why on earth they would do this. None of them has accomplished anything particularly heroic or even of note, at least that I know of. Some of them were even acclaimed. They are umm.. (I'm a bit too lazy to actually look this up right now) I think: Schwarz, Ruth Kovacs, Mitchell Brownstein, the next row below...um, some other councillor park guy ...and the helmeted guy is Glenn Nashen who does PR at the Jew Gen. Allow it to be noted that such CSL officials as Dida Berku, Robert Libman, Michael Cohen did not organize to name parks after themselves, so they're not all so nutty up there. One day I'll go up and get the transcripts of the meeting where they named all the parks after themselves. I've mentioned this before on Coolopolis I think but it's the gift that keeps giving.
The three people below have no geographical places named after them as of yet in spite of their obvious awesomeness. The first is of course the great Techno Viking who needs no further justification, introduction or praise. Then there's Mordecai Richler who surely wore out a comb or two with that do. And the third is Montrealer Marie who provides the mandatory hotness to this otherwise unsexy collage.
Awesomeness?

ReplyDeleteI think the naming of the parks was one of the last hurrah activities before Cote St Luc became merged into Montreal (before the later "de-merger", at which point they didn't undo the street names).
ReplyDeleteThis was not the first time CSL did this. There are a group of streets named after councillors circa 1950 several blocks north west of Cavendish (then King George) and CSL Road: Kirwan, Conklin, etc.
