Adhémar Raynault, mayor of Montreal from 1936-38 and 1940-42. When they locked Camillien Houde up, I believe he stepped in as provisional mayor for awhile.
What I wonder is who's the tiny guy down left with the eyebrows.
Disagreement thyme - tis none other than Pax Plante, aka Pacifique Plante, aka Sweet Satchmo LeGrange (during his speak-easy days). Behind him is his backing band/ deputies getting ready to wow em with their klezmer-powered be-bob sound, at that old blind tiger, the Eyesight-deficient Feline. I believe it was located in the loft of the Peter Lyall House between '36 and '38.

Hm, I said it was Adhémar Raynault but got a blogger error - if this is a duplicate, please delete.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the others ... Raynault. I believe his second term was 1940-44.
ReplyDeleteAs for the last one being too e-Zee, that was due to Kristian's bilingual"old thymaire" wordplay. Otherwise, we'd probably be still puzzling it out.
