Gravenor in 1939

Promoter Colin Gravenor, 29, interviews singer Rudy Vallee who was visiting Montreal.
Vallee is seen elsewhere in the Conrad poirier series arriving at Windsor Station in a motorcade on Windsor Station on March 31, 1939.
The shot is part of a collection of 24,000 photos taken by the great Poirier that were donated to a museum and many of them are online.
Poirier died in 1968, Vallee in 1986 and Gravenor in 1994.

  1. Your blog was quoted by Pierre Foglia in La Presse today, pretty cool.

  2. "...and Gravenor in 1994".

Kinda sad how you can refer the old man biting it in such a casual manner. I feel for ya, especially so at this time of year.

  3. Thanks. It's a long time ago now, so I've accepted it. He lived a full life and now I've got my own family that has 100% of my attention. So yeah, thanks for your thoughts and best of all for you in this new year.

    "and Gravenor in 1994": 1993 or 1994?

Walked by his former property on Lambert Closse which is now a big hole waiting for rebar and concrete. Can still picture him doing traffic in front of the old lot in minus 30 temperature, bare-chested naturally.
