Tony Magi's HQ has been demolished.West End developer Tony Magi, who has been linked to the Rizzuto crime clan, is no longer going to be working from his spiffed-up building at 5720 - 5730 Upper Lachine Road.
Magi, whose name has come up in the Charbonneau Commission, is out. The building, which included offices, a restaurant and a parking lot, will make way for condos that cost as little as 200 k.

I had been inside Magi's building a few years back to try to persuade him to change his plans for the other condo complex in hopes that a new road could be built to de Maisonneuve under the tracks on Wilson. He declined to come out and talk.
I also got takeout a few times from the restaurant, which seemed okay but pretty empty.
The property was evaluated by the city at $1,053,000, the structure is listed as being built in 1953 but it appeared to considerably more recent.
His brother Rino Magi (Alberino Magi) is also in the same business and is a recovering drug addict who survived a shooting on Cavendish near Sherbrooke a couple of years ago. He was arrested this week and is facing charges in California in connection to a $30 million phone fraud.
The immediate area is also famous for being the spot where Nicholas Rizzuto Jr. was gunned down, in the parking lot across the street (one account has it that he was visiting a mistress in the condo complex) and also where Ducarme Joseph - a strongarm associate of Tony Magi's - was arrested following a triple murder at his Old Montreal boutique.
One of the Magi brothers recently built a home nearby, it's the last one before the pedestrian tunnel on Melrose. Montreal city records list the current owner of the demolished property as 7773480 CANADA INC., aka Tony Carlini who formerly ran the Sul Viale restaurant inside the building.
