French football star convicted after bad night out in Montreal

Misfortune for football star receiver Jeremy Rabot, 27,  as the Frenchman has been found guilty of three assault-related charges stemming from a bad night out on the Main on October 11, 2011.
Rabot is a marquee name in Euro-gridirone, helping France become one of the top European teams in what they call "American football" on those shores, leading his country to upset wins over Sweden and Austria in 2010-11.
The speedy Rabot had trouble getting that same traction in his Quebec college football career (Maybe because our yards are different than European football field metres? - Chimples)  partly due to injury and a disciplinary problem that reportedly led him to get suspended twice from the Rouge et Or powerhouse, a riding-the-pine experience he eventually ditched for Concordia in 2011.
For reasons unexplained, Rabot offered no defence or explanation relating to the charges against him in court.  I've written to ask.
According to the judgment, Rabot didn't want to leave the nightclub and ended up poking the doorman in the eyes and then wrestling against a cop or two.
Officers were surprised to see that he remained agitated after being brought to the station, reportedly telling the officers "you're all dead."
So yeah, it's not model behaviour but not exactly major crime either and it would be interesting to hear his version of the story, if he has one.
This all happened at the Musique Nightclub at 3781 St. Lawrence about 37 months back but the verdict only came out November 12. No word on sentencing.
