City of champions, eh?

From the isn't-Montreal-interesting-ha-ha-ha file comes this quirky island of pathos. It's at the corner of Masson Street and something French. This intriguing neverland of a hair salon has to be the only place in town where you can get your hair cut on a linoleum blue line, and admire ashtrays you can't use (is this really still Quebec?), while celebrating nonexistent Montreal sporting glories, as Herve Villechaise points out the window and cries, "The plane, the plane!"

    Oui, c'est Masson.

It's too bad the author didn't go during the day, especially a Saturday morning during the hockey season. What makes Chez Menick such a great place is the atmosphere inside. Menick is really one of a kind. A former junior league hockey coached who's coached many of the greats, he's very easy to pick out. Hilarious and very loud. I suggest you go back and get your hair cut there. It's an incredible experience. A real Montreal landmark.

  4. I am glad it's there. Looks great at night. I could use a trim, too.
