American Apparel exploits Habs logo

You might recall that a local restaurant was sued for $88,000 for using the Canadiens logo on their sign recently. It might not look good, but one corporation just cant employ the popularity of another to boost their own popularity. The Canadiens, we might forget, are a business, they are nothing more.
Notice how American Apparel has done pretty much the same thing with their truck here seen on Gene Tallin Street, the Habs logo being at the bottom of their text.
Here is a fairly hilarious send up done to a few weeks ago to mock the company.

  1. Success story? Not so sure. American Apparel is on the brink of filing for Chap. 11. Apart from much of their stuff being weird and/or plain ugly, it turns out they weren't so wholesome as they set out to be; what with a good chunk of their workforce being illegals.

  2. Isn't that Dov Charney's baby? From reading a few newspaper and magazine articles about the guy, I get the impression he's a douche-bag of intergalactic proportions.

  3. Yeah. I try not to write about it because he just feeds on attention. I find rich kid bad-boys tiresome.

  4. Ha! Gene Tallin. I actually pronounced it that way for the first few years I lived here. It's like nails on a chalkboard to Montreal natives.

  5. Yeah you get onto that higher level of expression when you adopt these ole thyme pronunciations, I certainly call it that on every occasion and I am born and raised here.

  6. La Belle Province on St-Jacques west of Cavendish has a CH logo on their window...how dare they.

The Canadiens executive suite is loaded with arrogant plicks. The way this minor league town panders to them is sickening. They hold on to them simply because without them this city would be nothing...we lost MLB, and the CFL is the CFL...20 miles south of the border they say "what?"...

  7. Yes, I heard they were about to file for Chapter 11 and are in trouble.
Their clothes are cheaply made, epic crap that falls apart within months of purchase. Even when they have sidewalk sales I don't buy it.
